Dustin Starr – The Starr Treatment

Howling with Laughter

rkingsI have been laughing so hard for the last five minutes that I might die because of a shortness of breath! I’ve heard of liquid courage for drunks who act like they’re tough… but what in the world would you call a big, fat, ugly wrestling mark who thinks they’re tough over the internet?

Please allow me to explain…

There’s a turd over on another site that calls himself The Axeman. I would get you a link so you can visit him yourself, but instead of linking my site from his comments – he decided to rip quotes from my blog. That’s fine by me. I have an audience that reads this blog everyday – he could’ve really benefited from me putting a link to his article from this blog. But now, I can’t do that for him.

Anyway, he was upset about what I said about TFW out of Tupelo, MS.  Check it out – it’s pretty good stuff.

The Axeman didn’t like those comments, however.  Take a look:

“I received a phone call from one of the fans at TFW. He told me to check out Dustin Starr’s blog and read his comments about TFW. Now, I have deliberately avoided Dustin’s blog, and all things related to Dustin Starr, for a long time. The reason I have paid little or no attention to Dustin is that he is a first class, egotistical, little jerk, who thinks he is God’s gift to the wrestling world.”

Yeah, right.  I’m SOOO sure someone called you and I’m SOOO sure you don’t read my blog.  And yes, I am first class… I am egotistical… I’m a jerk, too… and believe it or not – I’m certainly God’s gift to the world of wrestling.

“Dustin showed up at a TFW show last year. To the best of my knowledge, he was not booked on the show, he just showed up with Neil Taylor, and Neil got him on the card.” (more…)

Beatings on Beale – Jan. 1st

jan1stshowDon’t miss out on the very first show of the New Year! Beatings on Beale at the New Daisey Theater in downtown Memphis, TN!  I’m pretty excited about this show for the simple fact that Memphis Wrestling hasn’t been active on TV in quite a while (except for re-runs) – and now the band’s back together!

On the card: Dustin Starr (of course!), Derrick King, Stan Lee, Picture Perfect,  Kevin White, The Baron Malkavain and I do see a crown on the card, as well.  Will The King be there?  Well, all I know is there will be a Crowning of a New King of Memphis!  A few more features are the very first casket match, a $500 ladder match, as well as your chance to win some very special prizes!

HotTagWear.com will be in the house with all their great apparel for wrestling and MMA fans alike.  Be sure to bring some extra money for that.  But you won’t need too much of the cash because ticket prices are only $8 at the door!  Show starts at 7PM – be sure to bring the kids!

WHO? Dustin Starr and HotTagWear.com, DK, Stan Lee, Kevin White and many more…

WHAT? Wrestling action!

WHEN? January 1st, 2009 at 7PM

WHERE? New Daisey Theater Memphis, TN

WHY? Cuz I gotta!

New Poll

All right, you’ve heard all that there is to hear. You’ve heard Eric Wayne’s side of things and how he sees the business. Then, you’ve heard the way that I see it. Apparently, he sees no value in certain parts of the business that are traditional. You know, like paying dues, earning your spot and whatnot.

Now, I ask you – who do you agree with more?

I don’t expect anyone to agree in full with anything that has been said.  There’s probably bits and pieces that you agree on with me.  There’s probably fragments that you would feel more strongly about in his favor. I don’t believe anyone’s right or wrong.  We both view the business in different ways.  It’s apparent to me that I’m more willing to work harder for what I get.  Maybe Eric is too… but by his post and his comments, it doesn’t look that way to me.

So, now I post the question :

If you’d like to elaborate on your answer, just post it in the comments section.

My Response to Eric Wayne

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — dustinstarr @ 3:08 am

dustin-hot-tagI gave Eric Wayne the opportunity to post whatever he’d like to say to all of the readers of this blog.  He’s been given criticism on this site, as well as other sites that cover wrestling in this area.  He’s been overly-praised, in my opinion, on RRONews.com… and he’s been unfairly criticized in some ways, on this site.  So, I gave him the floor to speak his mind.

You all read the “Eric Wayne Speaks” part one and part two… some of you even posted comments for everyone to read.  Some of them were censored… and some of them weren’t even allowed to be posted on the site because they were so bad.  I guess Eric Wayne brings out the best in all of us (joking, of course).

What have we learned, thus far?  Well, what we have learned is many of the readers on this site do not like Eric, nor do they like his father.  Also, they had a lot of fun with Eric’s under-bite.  I’m not sure how much that has to do with wrestling – but hey, it’s an open-forum, right?  Also, the words ego, arrogant and respect have come up more than once, as well.  Oh, and some had a few comments about me.  That’s fine, too.  That’s my reader’s comments in a nut shell.  But now, it’s my time to give my feelings on what Eric had to say.

I honestly think that some of the training and some of the family-backing, so to speak, have really gone to Eric’s head a little bit.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to be cocky.  It’s great to be confident.  Any of you who really know me, you know I have an ego.  You have to have one in this business.  Sometimes you have to be your own biggest fan.  But when you start believing your own hype, there’s a big problem.

My feeling goes like this – just because you rode to shows with your dad when you were younger… just because you trained as hard as everyone else in your training camp… just because you’ve lifted weights for years and years – that doesn’t mean you’ve paid any dues in the wrestling business.  Just because your family has been in the business for many years – that doesn’t mean that you’ve paid dues.  Maybe your family has… but I don’t feel that you have.  But maybe that’s not your fault.  The business has changed so much that anyone and everyone can get into the ring, trained or untrained, dues or no dues.  Just ask your dad.  He’d agree with that.  (more…)

Batista’s Surgery

batista1I typically don’t cover too much about what’s going on in the land of the WWE – but I thought this was very cool.  It just goes to show you how the WWE uses any and all footage they can for the future benefit of themselves and their superstars.

Also, think about this for a moment – all the old school wrestlers want to talk about kayfabe being dead because of this, that and the other.  Well, what about this?  WWE is leading the way.  It all depends on how you look at it, but I feel like WWE taking a look inside a wrestler’s real life is somewhat breaking kayfabe.  The business is changing and it’s become a little more real as time passes.

Tough break for Batista, as he’ll probably be out of WrestleMania in 2009.  No one wants to be injured.  Especially, for a big superstar to miss out on the WrestleMania payoff… tough break.

If I ever had to undergo surgery like Batista is – I’d want everything documented for my own personal records and files.  Look at this documentation for Batista’s surgery – CLICK HERE.  Very cool stuff.  Take a look inside of the real part of a phoney business.

I can see it now – an awesome WWE Desire video marking the return of The Animal in about eight months.  What band will be featured with it though?  Nickelback?  Saliva?  Who else is hot in the music industry right now?

Surprise, Surprise!!

grill-tank1I know some of you are waiting for my long-awaited response from the Eric Wayne Speaks segments of the blog – but first, I had to touch base on this topic.  It’s hilarious.

For those of you who have been reading my blog for quite a while, you’ll understand why this is so funny.  First of all, you have to CLICK HERE in order to read the entire post from RRONews.com.  Pay particularly close attention to the “Before the rumors get started and all the TFW bashers start spreading crap, here are the facts in the matter:” quote.

When I saw that quote, I laughed out loud for real.

Apparently, TFW – a small wrestling promotion near Tupelo, MS – was shut down because of a fire code violation.  The quote is so funny because I wrote an entire blog about my experience working that show the two weeks I was there, last year.  I got a ton of heat on a few website for talking about their means of heating the joint.

Allow me to explain.

First of all, to repeat what I said in the other post – the dressing room was actually an old broke-down school bus.  The bus was parked behind the building.  I’m not lying – I couldn’t make this stuff up.  It gets better, I promise.  Not only did they dress in a school bus… err… locker room (as they called it) but there was a huge gas tank in the middle of the isleway.  This tank looked like a gas tank you’d see on a grill in your backyard (see photo).  The only difference between the one in your backyard and this one was, well, this one was lit up… and had no grill attached to it.  I’m not sure exactly how it worked… but they apparently turned the gas on, lit it up and used it for heat.  How that tank didn’t explode, I’ll never know.  What I do know is this – it was scary and I thought I might die of explosion in there.

Anyway, I always thought that company would be shut down because that’s definitely a fire code violation.  I’m one hundred percent sure that wouldn’t pass inspection and I said as much in the previous post.  Now – SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!  It might’ve taken a year but it finally happened.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer group of folks, either.  (I hope you feel the sarcasm in that last sentence.)

Eric Wayne Speaks PART II

kidericgregmatt1This post is comments directly from Eric Wayne.  They have not been edited and are being displayed in full.  Look for my comments on his two posts to be posted shortly.  As always, go ahead and respond to what you think about his comments.

‘ve also read a lot here lately about me having a bad attitude or an ego. This may be the first thing that has been somewhat accurate. I do have an ego. I can admit that. Will it hold me back? I sure as hell don’t think so and hope not. Wrestling is an ego-driven business. So to say I have an ego, thank you…you’re telling me that I have what it takes to make it in this business. Many people have said Shawn Micheals is an ass or has an ego, but you know what? I wouldn’t trade where he’s at for the world. There’s a difference between the boys liking you and the office liking you. To my knowledge, I’ve never had a company tell me or my dad that they don’t want me back because of my poor attitude. I’ve always gone out and given my best efforts in every match. I will apoligize if my worst effort is better than some of the best efforts put out by the guys in this business now though. It’s a testament to the type of training I’ve received. It doesn’t mean that these guys are not trying hard, just maybe they don’t get it or no one will tell them “Dude you suck, you need to find proper training.” Here’s the thing so many people don’t understand…what the boys think and what the office thinks are two completely different things. Sure you can’t go around the lockerrom being a complete asshole to everyone and I’ve never done that. But if a few of the boys don’t like me because of the way I act, that’s too bad. You can ask several different people, that’s just how I am sometimes. My dad will even tell you I’m an asshole at times..it’s just me. I’ve tried changing and if something I say comes out the wrong way and makes you not like me, then that’s your choice. But the bottom line in any business is what the office thinks of you. If they don’t like you, chances are you won’t be around for long. Doesn’t really matter if you’re better than Kurt Angle or can’t lace your boots(kickpads, whatever) if you’re causing too big of a problem, you’re gone. So what if a few of your employees don’t get along with you? If you know what the hell you’re doing and aren’t a headache to management…you’re wasting your time and energy being jealous. (more…)

Eric Wayne Speaks PART I

kidericgregmattThis post is comments directly from Eric Wayne.  They have not been edited and are being displayed in full.  Eric’s message will be displayed in two separate posts due to length.  I will post my feelings on this after everything has been displayed from Eric.  But you can feel free to place your comments below.

Well, here goes nothing. I’m actually surprised that as many negative things that have been said about me and my father and our school and so forth over the last couple weeks that there were no questions posted. Kind of strange that when you finally get the chance to put someone on the spot, nothing happens. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining or disappointed. And as far as all the negativity goes, I’m honestly not surprised. There are always those certain few people out there that feel a need to hate on a person for whatever reason. Whether it’s your own jealousy because you can’t perform at that same level or feeling like you deserve more or WHATEVER the case may be. The bottom line is this, I have worked very hard to get to where I am today. I’m also not stopping because my name is on the tips of so many peoples tongues either. Big deal that you don’t like me, dont watch me. I think Dustin might be one of these people that feels that where I have gotten in this business in just two years is undeserved. It doesn’t mean I didn’t work hard tho, Dustin. I’ve known this guy since before he was “5 Starr” and before the blog and before the blonde highlight in the front of his hair. I doubt he remembers it but I’ve known him since he was 155lbs punk wrestling at Denim n Diamonds that I thought would never do anything. Boy was I wrong. Of course I don’t remember his match or really anything other than who he was. So Dustin has definetly worked just as hard as myself and quite a few others to get to where he is. Does it bother him that some people don’t like him? Not one bit. I can say that even tho Dustin might not always agree with the way I act, but we do have at least one thing in common. We could care less what people think about us. When it comes to any sport(and wrestling is a sport) there always a good guy and a bad guy. It’s obvious that me and Dustin are the bad guys around here. Me for “having things handed to me” and my ego and Dustin for speaking his mind. (more…)

Eric Wayne Responds

155992Fair is fair, right?  I tell you all that it’s an open forum and that anyone can post anything they want (within reason).  So, after a few posts about the antics of Eric Wayne, he has finally responded.

Take a look on the right hand side of this blog and you’ll see “COMMENTS”.  Eric Wayne has posted a few in the last day or so and has a lot to say.

I think he’s feeling a little singled out at the fact that he’s undefeated in his father’s wrestling company.  He points out that Kid Nikels is undefeated, as well.  Also, he tells the story about Scott Fury’s teeth being knocked out.  There’s several comments about the topics that have been discussed here in The World of Wrestling.

So, here we go.  I’ve contacted Eric about answering a few questions from the blog.  Shockingly, he’s accepted.  So, I’ll have a few select questions for Eric Wayne myself… but I want you, the readers, to chime in, as well.

It’s pretty simple:  no holds barred… anything goes.  Post your questions in the comment section of this post.  I’ll get all the best of the best questions and send them over to Eric.  You have until MIDNIGHT tonight to get those questions in.

Now, remember… we all talk trash.  We all have opinions.  Eric wants to step up to the plate and answer the critics, so if you have something to say to him or to ask him about – you better shoot those questions now.  No matter how ridiculous they are, I’m sending them to Eric for comment.

Read, set, GOOOOOO!!  You have until midnight to get those questions in.

My Weekend

blog-iconI wanted to make a quick post moving through the weekend.  I generally take the weekends off, for the most part, when it comes to blogging.  But I’m loving some of the happenings this weekend, so I decided to tell you all about it.

My fantasy football team, The Miami Five Starr, is in the Super Bowl against the Italian Spidermen.  Have you seen the Italian Spiderman video on YouTube?  If you haven’t, you’re the only one who hasn’t.  My eyes will be glued to the television, as I win my very first fantasy football Championship.  Remember to check the Twitter updates to see how I’m doing.

All I can say is go Matt Cassel and go Randy Moss.  I’m relying on them.

TLCW drew thirty fans, last night.  That has to be the worst crowd I’ve ever heard of being at their show.  Remember, just last year… or earlier THIS year, we were packing that place out.  Tell me I’m the only one who isn’t happy with the booking and the way things are handled in Ripley.  The numbers don’t lie.

I wrestled Seth Knight last night.  Enough about that.

Christmas is coming up very quickly.  Are you finished with all your shopping?  I haven’t just yet.  I’m almost finished though.  I am a huge mark for Christmas ornaments though, so I’ll be looking forward to the week-after sales.

Photos from the Ugly Sweater Christmas Party will be posted shortly.  Also, I’ll have a funny story/picture about how the emcee of the Dirty Santa game got color the hard way during the gift trading.  I’m not kidding – he got busted open for real, the hard way, during a game of Dirty Santa.  I placed second in the contest, by the way… and I decorated my sweater myself.

My current shoot weight is 205.

Be sure to check out the funny response to the “Richard” comment made yesterday.  Is it REALLY Richard?  Hilarious comment.
