I know this is a wrestling blog. So, I don’t want to focus so much on A-Roid (aka A-Rod). I want to put the focus of this blog on steroids themselves. I want you to put yourself in A-Roid’s shoes… I want you to view this scandal from a different point of view. Because let’s face it, wrestling and steroids go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly. Or like, well… steroids and baseball.
Let me be clear – I’m not a huge baseball fan. I love going to Autozone Park, but I do not watch baseball on TV. However, I think it sucks that the test results came out. They weren’t supposed to be leaked. The players were actually guaranteed that the names from the failed tests wouldn’t be released. So, I’m not totally sure on what the punishments are on those results getting out, but I do know that it’s unfair. 140 ball players were tested positive – 1 player’s name was released. Explain that to me.
I already know your argument. I don’t want to hear that it’s not so much of the test results getting out – it’s the fact that he did it. I know. But you would too.
If you were put into A-Rod’s shoes… or if you were put into ANY top-level athlete’s shoes… and you had $250,000,000 on the line – you’d do the same thing. You would absolutely do your research on the situation. You’d do the research on the positives and negatives of taking performance enhancing drugs and you’d come to the same conclusion as A-Rod and THOUSANDS of other baseball players came to. (more…)
