I’m glad I’m not the only one who has thoughts on this topic. To me, it really hits hard at home. Steve McNair, to me, has and always will be looked at as one of the best of the best. Quarterbacks who sit out because of stubbed toes, nowadays, and he’s out playing with a cracked sternum. Not only that, but to never hear a bad word about the guy… until he DIES.
It makes me think of one word: TYPICAL.
But it’s a hot topic to many of you, as well. I’m glad to see that. Man, there were some great comments. You all look at it in a different perspective. It gives me a little bit of a different view, as well. Some I agree with and some I do not agree with. Let’s take a look, in case you missed it:
“Gem”: “Steve McNair should not be looked at in a different light period. The media is gonna find anything they can negitive and put it out there because that is what sells. His wife didn’t know big suprise there what kind of a wife would say they did know and with 4 kids involved why would you want to tarnish their memory of their dad. I think this is a really sad world when someone with such a great background is thrown to the wolves just for a story. I remember stories of how when he was here in Memphis playing the rest of the team comuted back and forth from houston but he not only got a house here but spent time at both lebonheur and st jude visiting with the kids. If that is not a great person than I don’t know what is. I believe Steve McNair is and always will be a great role model something the sports world is sorely missing these days.“
Being a father, myself… this absolutely tears me up. To know that all this about your father comes out to the public – it’s crazy. It will be hard to over look, indeed…
“EM“: “How can this issue not be brought up while talking about Steve McNair, for that simple reason his legacy will be tarnished a bit.“
Good point. Chris Benoit’s name will always be linked to his murder-suicide. Even if you’re simply talking about a great match he had, that tragedy lurkes over his career forever.
“King Jester”: “If McNair was a true “Role Model”, he would not have cheated on his wife. Being a great person and a professional is not just about how you act when everybody is watching you. Go ask O.J. Simpson.”
There’s a simple saying that I’ve learned: “Character is what you do when no one’s around.” It certainly goes hand-in-hand with what you’re saying. I agree… but I also disagree. Good people do bad things sometimes. He just happened to get murdered while in the act. Bad timing. Bad situation. Bad decision. It cost him a lot more than his reputation.
“Maxx Corbin”: “Yes, his order of things was screwed up, but is it far fetched to say that his wife was trying to play damage control for herself by saying she had no clue. Look how bad Hilliary Clinton looked when Bill was caught with his pants down. Yes, people will talk about the fact that his girlfriend killed him every time his name is brought up. Thats real unfortunate too.“
The biggest Tennessee Titan’s mark in the world, right here. I agree that the wife had an idea of this. But that doesn’t make it right.
Maxx Continued: “A teacher once told me that there was only one person who ever walked the earth that was perfect….and they crucified him!“
Very good point.
“Jonathan”: “Unfortunately his rep is already tarnished. However to answer teh question of whether I will look at him any differently? The answer is no. To me he’s still the Steve McNair that I admired watching on Sunday afternoons“
All of these were great points. I didn’t post the full comments, just bits and pieces. If you want to read them all, just click the comments section and go right ahead. If you have a different opinion, post it. I’d like to see it. I’m thinking of going to LP Field to see the tribute. Anyone know when it actually ends?

Yea, i’m a Titans mark. My entire living room is dark titans blue with autographed footballs and jerseys hanging around.
The final details were pretty disturbing dude. She shot him in the head while he was asleep on the couch. Then shot him twice in the chest and then again in the head. Then she tried to position herself to where she would land in his lap. But she slid off after the shot. Crazy stuff man. Crazy. They have video on youtube of her dui arrest last week. Its weird, she seems too happy. They say though that when people that are depressed get happy real quick like that its because they already know they are gioing to end it all and don’t worry about anything anymore.
