Tidbits of the Week

There’s a lot going on in the world.  Certainly, there’s a lot going on in my world.  I’m just trying to take it all in, stay sane and live my own life.  But as I sit back and try to stay on track, I see a lot of stuff that I want to share.  So, I’m going to run through some news-bites and tidbits of really cool stuff that I’ve witnessed, noticed or just happen to come across.

Let’s take a look at the past week, shall we?  Oh, and be sure to click the links to get the stories!

Brian Thompson Leaves NEWLet me ask you all (as if you care) – who saw this coming?  I did.  Not necessarily with Brian Thompson per-say.  But I’ve been waiting for someone to smarten up and stop working those NEW shows.  You can only work the boys into coming to a nothing-happening show for so long.  I mean, come on.  You have to pay the boys.  You have to fulfill your promises to the boys.  You have to TAKE CARE of the boys.  And NEW and its “staff” is not doing that.

Brian Thompson isn’t the first one to walk away from this company.  He won’t be the last.  But I wish he would at least give the shoot on the organization.  Where’s the television show that Ken Wayne’s been promising for so long?  Where’s the exposure for the boys that he’s been promising for so long?  Where the money?  Where’s the other bookings that were supposed to be sprung from this organization?

Good for you Brian Thompson.  Now, remove the yellow strip from your backside and tell us what’s really going on over there.

A Young Dustin StarrYou know, I am really putting myself out there with this link.  Click the blue header and you’ll see for yourself.  If I didn’t mention this, I’m sure Maxx Corbin would’ve.  He apparently found this video and posted it on YouTube for me.  Thanks a lot, jerk.

“Delisho” Dustin Starr & “Krypto” Simon Reed, collectively known as The Beale Street Posse, wrestle against the tag team of Brickhouse Brown & Reggie B. Fine.  Man, do things change or what?  I look to be nineteen years old.  A less-aged William Gibson is refereeing the match.  Brickhouse is in great shape.  Reggie is being Reggie.  What a trip down memory lane.

If you’re a new fan, check out what you missed.  I’m sorta embarrassed.  If you’re an old fan of mine… aren’t you glad I grew up?

Bad Wrestling HaircutsThis article is absolutely hilarious.  I was disappointed that my name wasn’t on the list.  The Euro-hawk… or as I call it, The Five Starr Hawk was defintely over with the boys when I wrestled the shows for WWE a month or so back.  I get a lot of feedback regarding my hair.  I guess my hair just wasn’t as bad as the ones in the article.  Click the blue header and see for yourself.

No Coach’s Corner Follow-UpOh yeah.  I promised a blog about Brian Tramel’s Eric Wayne story.  The self-destruction of Eric Wayne… whatever it’s called.  Know why I didn’t write about it?  Because no one cares.  I don’t care.  I’m tired of hearing about Eric.  I’m tired of mentioning him on my blog.  I’m tired of comments about him.  I’m just sick to death of being sick of him.

Maybe he’ll smarten up like I should have done years ago.  Maybe he’ll quit the business.

Memphis WrestlingIf you’re not an avid Memphis Wrestling television show watcher – be sure to get in the groove tomorrow.  I’m not one hundred percent sure as to what they’re airing… but I’ve been lead to believe that tomorrow morning at 11AM on My Network 50, they’ll be airing footage from July 4th’s show at Jerry Lawler’s Fireworks.

Johnny Dotson had the pleasure of wrestling me on that fateful day.  It was hot.  It was humid.  It was miserable.  The mat was STEAMING, it was so hot.  But we made it through, no one got hurt and a television show was taped.  So, I look forward to seeing it myself.  I’ll actually tune in.

This is a good time to mention that I hate watching myself on television.  I’m my own worst critic.  Nothing’s ever good enough for me.  But I will be loving the fact that I tower over Johnny.  One hundred and fifty pounds versus two hundred and twelve pounds is always fun to watch.

Have a great weekend and thanks for reading.

  2. Dustin,
spent a little time this afternoon watching a dvd from “BigTime Wrestling”–Detroit area, from what appeared to be the early 70’s..
in a nutshell, the Sheik almost caused a riot when he was using a foreign [my bad... international] object on Sailor Art Thomas..
fans were attempting to pull his manager, Eddie Creatchman, from off ringside..
    my question is…
with heels being treated as faces by the fan today, do you ever see genuine heat [from any organization] coming back to where it almost causes fans to riot..
the last thing that comest to mind in this area was when Lawler-Valiant had their run in the Coliseum..
I am also under the impression teams like the Gangsters did the same in Smokey Mountain..
    just curious..
    enjoy the column!

  3. Your welcome, my fellow HazelNut (Sister Hazel Reference not a pet name I have for Dustin) I always called your haircut The Obi Wan. I’m just waiting on the rat tail to make a full comeback. And you don’t write anymore about the situation because the hypothetical phone call…lol
