It seems that there’s a pretty big buzz making its way thru the Mid-South wrestling world. Elite Wrestling Entertainment out of Ripley, TN canceled their regularly scheduled wrestling show resulting in the fact that fans did not show up for the event. Pretty amazing, huh? I’ve never seen anything like this happen in Ripley, TN. It has always been a show / event that’s very well attended. I never saw this coming, for sure.
I had just hopped on the interstate at approximately 7:30 when I received the text. Shocked, I called and was given the news just before I reached the “far enough” point in my trip. Without much questioning, I turned and went home.
What’s going on in that town?
Crowds fluctuate up and down all of the time. Here recently, it has been far worse. I’m not sure what the problems are resulting from, but management better figure it out pretty quickly. If they don’t, they won’t have a show. The fans will stop coming altogether… Err, at least the ones that HAVE been coming.
This bruises my ego worse than anything. I’m the EWE Champion. A show gets canceled because of lack of attendance while I’m on top? That’s not something you’d like to hear. But the fact of the matter is this – my heat was passed along to Derrick King at Super Summer Showdown a few weeks back. Now, I’m not trying to stir up trouble… You know that’s no what I do. I’m also not trying to pass blame. But the fact is, the “ball” was taken out of my court at Super Summer Showdown and handed to DK.
What happened to the game from there? Well, you’re reading all about it, right here. Shows are being canceled and the future of he company is in jeopardy. Maybe, just maybe… Taking the ball out of the hands of a guy who just made appearances on RAW and ECW wasn’t the right thing to do.
But what do I know? I’m not in the office. I merely a wrestler doing what I’m asked to do.
Your thoughts?

Maybe everyone is getting tired of DK drunk ass every week

Well, that would be like saying the only reason the war is getting worse is because Obama is president. It took time to get to this point, you cant blame it all on one night..But, whatever makes you feel beter. Maybe it was all a work in progress>?

Did you misunderstand my blog? I didn’t blame it all on one night and didn’t blame it all on DK. I was merely stating that there were some changes that had taken place… took the focus in a totally different direction… and now, we’re at this point. That’s all. Is it all DK’s fault? No. When WWF wasn’t drawing in the 1990’s, they blamed their World Champion (so I hear, anyway). It’s the same thing. Blame who’s on top.

Seems like a very logical statement to me. You have to put your best foot forward and leave the ego-fueled manipulations that harmful to business out of it. It’s hurt attendance in other local promotions, past and present.

Kingjester…….why do you post on wrestling sites. Its obvious the only wrestling shows you’ve attended are the one with greg king. Why do you constanly read wrestling sites when your just a mom???? Your 2 cents mean crap.

Listen, Skippy. I spent many a night at the Mid-South Coliseum watching Lawler,The Fabulous Ones,Dundee, Norvell Austin, Paul Orndorff, The Rock ‘n Roll Express. Not to mention countless hours watching NWA/WCW on TBS, WWWF/WWF on WOR,WGN, USA Network, and ICW from Nick Gulas (Garvin, Savage, Bobby Eaton). Backed with 30 years experience in video production, including live programming. Jeeeeez.

Countless times has EWE done different things to help draw in crowds to their shows. EWE was on top of the world at different times, i.e. when Tim Grind was champ or when Flash Flanagan. Dustin Starr has proven to be a very successful champ and plays his cards right. The problem isn’t always what the show has to offer, but rather the fans taking the time to come to a show that isn’t repetitive or “out of control wrestlers.” EWE has and will continue to reach to the fans or Ripley as well as the whole Mid-South, not to mention that EWE also has actual viewers from all around the WORLD! EWE will succeed and over come as they always have.
