Starr EWE Champ Hogan PoseAfter reviewing exactly what it takes in order to get where you need to be body wise, I thought I’d follow up with a few tips that are very helpful to me. Some of this stuff is very elementary.  But that’s what really works – the basics.  Yeah, you have to have drive, dedication, commitment… But you also have to have the knowledge.  Hopefully.  At least ONE of these tips will help you along the way.

Let’s get started, shall we?

EATING YOUR MEALS: Recently, I’ve been eating five to six meals per day.  This has helped me in my fat loss just as much as the cardio has.  My tips are pretty simple, but they work.

- Get on schedule.  You need to know ahead of time not only what you’re going to eat, but also WHEN you’re going to eat it.  Job gets in the way?  Typical.  That’s the problem with everyone.  Take a short break to eat your meal or drink your shake – just like a smoke break!

- Plan ahead.  I know what I’m going to eat and when I’m going to eat it every single day.  Sure, we mess up and miss meals.  But it is also very simple to carry your food with you and make those meals.  The frequency is very important.

- Another very important tip for those of you who can not eat the five meals per day – or if you struggle with it… Eat smaller portions!  If you plan to eat two grilled chicken breasts and a cup of brown rice – you may need to cut back to two grilled breasts and a HALF a cup of brown rice!  I typically never cut back on the protein.  That’s important for building muscle!

- One last tip on eating your meals… MIX IT UP!  Have you ever put grapes in your oatmeal?  Of course, I’m talking about Quaker Oats that is un-sweetened.  You put your own Splenda in… then, a few sliced-up grapes… and WHALA!  Something different!  How about peanuts and raisens in your tuna fish?  Tired of the same ole, same ole?  No mayo… just tuna, relish, unsalted peanuts and raisens.  Raisens give you the sweetness, peanuts are the crunch (along with extra protein) and relish because hey – you’re eating TUNA!  I’ve even been known to mix a little Raisen Bran into my tuna fish.

Try different things, folks!  Don’t get beat down by the same thing every day.  If you don’t believe how much I change up, take a look at my Twitter account and see my TwitPics!  I have a very good person helping me with my meals and I give much of the change in my appearance to her for creating those meals.

Try those tips and see if they help you get where you want to be!  I’ll be back tomorrow with MORE tips!  Tomorrow, I’ll talk a little bit about snacks, dessert and cardio!
