Are you ready???

supersummershowdownIt’s almost here!  Tomorrow night at 7PM, one of the biggest local wrestling events of the year will be taking place!  Take a look at the poster… the best of the best are scheduled for this show!  Oh, and Seth Knight will be there too!  But in all honesty, I can’t wait to see the turn-out!  I’m expecting all my followers and all of my backers to be there to support me and to support the show!  Did I mention it is a FREE SHOW!?

There’s a few very interesting tidbits surrounding this show.  This will be the second supercard in a row where Stan Lee and I headline the event.  At Mayhem, a few months back, I lost to Stan Lee in an EWE Heavyweight Championship match-up.  This time around, I will be defending the EWE Heavyweight title against Stan.  After Mayhem, big things started poppin’ for yours truly.  Will it repeat, this time around?  You’ll just have to wait and see…

Derrick King will step in the ring with Bishop.  Bishop is a guy that I’ve been praising quite a bit lately.  The guy has really gotten better.  He moves better in the ring.  He’s more fluid in what he does.  Every movement seems to mean something.  I think the guy’s actually learning how to WORK.  That’s very important… and I’m expecting big things for this match.  Seeing how Derrick is the BEST in the area… Bishop needs to prove that he belongs.  Here’s your shot, big man.

It’s always great to see Jon Michael, Christian Jacobs, The Golden Boy… and of course, Mr. Big Stuff on the card, all at the same time!  Throw Genocide in there and you’ve got all my favorite independent workers on the same show at the same time.  Imagine that?  Dustin Starr actually liking a line-up… very weird!  It really says a lot about the crew that will be performing on this show.

I said it before and I’ll say it again – DON’T MISS THIS SHOW!

Oh, and Derrick King… if you’re reading this – I’m sorry to tell you that you’re NOT headlining.  The main event has been saved for the NEW RRO WRESTLER OF THE YEAR.  That’s right.  Main Event belongs to the EWE Heavyweight Champion and former two-time RRO Horizon Starr of the Year.

The Main Event belongs to DUSTIN “FIVE” STARR.  Thank you very much.

Breaking the Mold

Dustin StarrI’ve gotten a lot of verbal reaction regarding the statements I posted last week regarding the stereotypical independent wrestler.  Not so much flack about the egotistical approach of my breaking that stereotype.  But the fact that some guys may think that I’m taking cheap shots at them by calling “everyone else” stereotypical.  This is not necessarily the case.

With that said, I do honestly think that I break the mold of that typical, every day indy wrestler.  However, I’m not in a league of my own by any means.  So, please do not confuse what I’m saying when I tell you that I’m different from the rest.  I like to think that I not only set the bar of performance when I’m in the ring – but I exceed that expected level and earn the fans’ love and respect for doing it that way.

Let’s face it, folks.  The truth is the truth.  The truth is I’m in the ring with the best indy wrestlers in the Mid-South each and every week.  This is pure fact.  Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of clutter in this business.  Many guys that do not know how to apply a top wrist lock.  But there are certainly a few that are very capable of wrestling anywhere in the world.  Even on the grandest stage of them all.  Allow me to explain: (more…)

Awesome Post from Scott Bowden

kfrUpon seeing Scott Bowden’s post on yesterday’s “More on the Fight” – I decided to click thru to check out what he’s saying about the whole ordeal.  Knowing that Scott Bowden has known the Lawlers for many, many years, I figured he’d have something good to say.  And I was right.

Click the logo to the left… or better yet, just click HERE to see exactly what he has to say about Brian Lawler.  It’s a very interesting read that takes a look at Brain’s career.  From the early days at the NWA (Neighborhood Wrestling Alliance), to his debut at an outlaw show, to the USWA, WWE, then TNA.  He follows Brian’s career and tells a great story about how Brian shouldn’t even have been in Dyersburg that night.

He has a great point.  I won’t tell his story for him – go to his site and check it out.  After reading that post, I think he’s got himself a regular visitor.  I had glanced at his site before, but I really liked what I read today.  So, I’ll be going back.

There haven’t been many posts concerning this issue on this site.  So, let’s open it up.  What do you have to say about all this?

More on the fight…

2182Every site has it posted… Motley Cruz telling his side of the story on the fight that took place in the locker room at Spring Breakout, this weekend.  Motley originally posted his side of the story HERE on the Kayfabe Boards at RRONews.com.  Check that post out before you read on.

Not to overwhelm you on reading material, but you can also check out Brian Tramel’s response HERE.  There’s so many different way to look at this story.  We all were there and we all have different opinions as to what took place.  We all have our “own agendas”, as some might say.  But in this case, it’s a little different.

Read Motley’s story and you’ll obviously see that he’s not a fan of Brian Christopher.  I know this for a fact.  Motley thinks Brian’s a screw-up.  Many of the wrestlers in this area think that Brian’s a screw-up.  I know for a fact that many of the guys in the locker room that night were HAPPY that Brian was given the fight of his life.  But my point is – Motley tells the side of the story from an anti-Brian point of view.  That’s fine.  That’s his opinion.

I tell my side of the story (which I haven’t told yet) from a neutral point of view because – GUESS WHAT – I’m good friends with BOTH men.  That’s another reason I do not want to glorify this story any more than it already has been.  But it seems that with this story flying around the web… plus, all the phone calls and text messages I’ve received in the last few days… people want to talk about it.  People want ME to talk about it.

FINE.  Let’s talk about it, people.  But you may not like what you hear from me. (more…)

Spring Break-BRAWL

dcw-casket-matchA rare Sunday post… and to take it a little further, it’s Easter Sunday.  Last night, one of the biggest shows of the year in Dyersburg, TN made a turn for the worse.  Yes, the place was PACKED.  A couple of hundred people or more were in attendance to see the night’s action.  But that’s not where the show went astray.  It was in the locker room last night that Spring Breakout turned into… well, Spring BreakBRAWL.

I’m not going to glorify what happened because I do not condone a single action that took place.  I’m serious when I say that it was the most frightening fight that I’ve ever seen in my life.  It was something that you would typically see on an episode of “Caught on Tape” on Spike TV.

If you want to read the story – CLICK HERE.

On that link, you’ll see pictures of Bishop and Brian Christopher taken after the fight.  I’ll be the first to tell you that those pictures do not do any justice, at all.  Both men were beaten to a pulp by one another.  And for what reason?  I can’t think of a single good one.  Both guys are brutally tough… and I’ve never in my life seen anyone sustain the amount of damage that either of them did and still be standing and willing to dish out (and take) more.

To me – this whole thing was ridiculous and I couldn’t wait to exit the building.

I may talk a little more about this later, but for now – I’ll leave it right here.  Anyone who witnessed this in-person will probably be scarred for live for seeing it.  I’m just glad I could convince them to stop the assault on one another.

(Maybe I can talk about the casket match later.  Or finish the WrestleMania stories.  Thanks to everyone who took pictures and sent them over.  You folks make it worth the battle!)
