Wrestler “Columns”

Starr EWE ChampAll of a sudden, there have been several wrestler columns popping up all over the internet.  Specifically speaking, on RRONews.com, you can find columns from Greg Anthony, Max Corbin, Downtown Bruno and even Eric Wayne.  Not to mention, you get columns every now and again from Brian Thompson and whoever else decides to send one in.  Sometimes, Brian Tramel at Rasslin Riot will post anything that will stir a little trouble.  Well, I’m here to tell you that not everything that’s posted is worth reading.

Let me start by saying this – my time is more valuable than anything else.  If I’m going to sit and read something, it better be good and it better be interesting.  If nothing else, it needs to be interesting.  I want to come away with knowing something that I didn’t know before.  I want to see a vision that I didn’t see before.  I want someone to enlighten me on an opinion that I may not have thought of before.  And if I DID think of it before, I’ll be glad that they reminded me.  So, some stories are good… some are bad… and some people I just can’t stand to read what they write.

The difference in what I do and what they do is simple:  I do not write a column. (more…)

Tidbits of the Week

There’s a lot going on in the world.  Certainly, there’s a lot going on in my world.  I’m just trying to take it all in, stay sane and live my own life.  But as I sit back and try to stay on track, I see a lot of stuff that I want to share.  So, I’m going to run through some news-bites and tidbits of really cool stuff that I’ve witnessed, noticed or just happen to come across.

Let’s take a look at the past week, shall we?  Oh, and be sure to click the links to get the stories! (more…)

“Midnight Gold?”

eatonI might as well jump on this subject while it’s still fresh.  It’s been announced on RRONews.com that there has been a new tag team formed.  One of the greatest tag team wrestlers of all time – hands down – has teamed up with “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony.  The tag team will be managed by Brian Thompson and will collectively be known as “Midnight Gold”.  They posted a promo HERE.  So, take a look at it – come back – and continue reading.

Where should I start?

I’ll start with the good.  The positives.  I love me some Bobby Eaton.  I have always liked “Beautiful” Bobby.  He’s great.  I do honestly think he’s one of the best tag team performers of all time.  I love the way they posted the promo with the phone number.  They can post it everywhere on the web and probably get some good bookings.  I love that it was all done in character.  It actually shows that Brian Thompson can cut a promo, which I didn’t know he could really do.  It couldn’t have been done better.

I only have one question – why Greg Anthony?  (more…)

From Brian Thompson

btjr-104x175Brian Thompson requested that I post this message for you all to read.  I have not edited this message in any way, shape or form.  It is being posted just as Brian wanted.  It’s a response from Cheaters, Brian Thompson and Don Bass.

Usually, I don’t comment when people talk about me. Normally their comments are reserved to knocking me on message boards while using fake names. To me, that should say it all as far as how much stock I give to their statements.

With you Dustin, it’s a little different. I have always respected you and I believe that I have always SHOWN you respect. And you have always shown me respect right back, even though you sometimes give me a “hard time” when you see me. (lol) That’s okay. I’m a big boy I can take it all in stride.

Now, I’m not going to try to defend the contents of my most recent “Thompson Perspective” over at RasslinRiotOnline. You are more than welcome to have whatever opinion of that column. That is your right. (more…)

Cheaters, Brian Thompson and Don Bass

1-4-3I know that most of you read RRONews.com from time to time.  There’s a huge crossover when it comes to readers from BT’s site and readers on my site.  They almost go hand-in-hand.  But just in case you missed these stories, I wanted to share them.

RRO Awards is currently underway.  Every year, there seems to be a little bit of cheating going on.  Well, at least there’s always a suspicion that someone’s cheating.  This year, however, BT has addressed the situation like never before.  CLICK HERE to read for yourself.  I won’t name names… but I have spoken to BT about this and you definitely wouldn’t be surprised at who he thinks the cheaters are.  And if you read this site often, you all probably could guess who the suspicious one is.

I’ll say this – if you are so desperate that you have to CHEAT to win a FAN-VOTED award… there’s something terribly wrong with your outlook on achievements.  Sad.  Very sad.

Also on RRO right now, you can read the latest Thompson Perspective.  Click the link and read for yourself, but I’m sure most of you would strongly disagree with everything he has to say.  Honestly, he does all he can to really kiss up to Eric Wayne.  I won’t argue all of his points, I’ll just say that he positions himself so far up the Wayne families’ asses, it makes you wonder if Bobby Eaton would be angry that he’s not still in HIS ass.

I like Brian Thompson, but I remember when he was being slapped around by Brian Christopher a few years back.  I remember him being the gopher for Kelly Warner in LAW.  I know Brian is used to me bagging on him every time I see him… but this column he wrote is totally disgusting.  But I guess it’s not surprising, seeing as he and Eric have a lot in common.  Neither one of them have paid a due in their lives! NEW’s Reply

img_00012Well, I certainly didn’t think my NEW blog would go unnoticed.  And, well – it didn’t.  Within the day that I posted it, I received an e-mail from NEW employee Brian Thompson.  He’s given me permission to post a few quotes from that e-mail.

Here goes (he’s in italics):

Just read your observations from last weekend’s show and glad you took the time to post.

I agree on the location being bad. It’s going to make us have to work a little harder than usual to advertise. We’re going to do our first bit of non-internet advertising for the next show. We’ll see how it goes.

I am concerned though about what I read in regard to some of the attitudes. I don’t get to be in the locker room to see any problems (and personally I hate being in locker rooms anyway), so I’m pretty clueless to what goes on back there. I do not feel that any of the guys from the school should be showing disrespect to you or any of the other talents we bring in. I think Ken would more than appreciate it if you let him know of what may be a problem that we need to kill off. That’s certainly not what he teaches as I’m sure you know.

Was glad to see you Friday night and hope to see you involved on a regular basis. While there is definitely a focus on those who have been through the school for a variety of reasons, I think you will see a shift once a loyal roster has been established. We’re all definitely high on you, Stan, Derrick, Dustin Ring and TGB.

Brian Thompson
