EWE 5/16

The March to Mayhem is underway.  I’ve been talking about it for weeks upon weeks.  Now, it’s right around the corner.  There’s no doubt in my mind that this show will sell out and be tons of fun.  Especially, with the way the show’s being built around such great story telling.

What started out as a tournament with a # 1 contendership at stake – has now become the return of Dustin “Five” Starr and the return of Flash Flanagan.  The crowd has been hot and jam-packed for the last three weeks, all building towards one big night.  With last weekend out of the way, now it’s down to myself and Stan Lee going head to head for the EWE Heavyweight Championship on May 30th.

Take a look at the videos below.  I’m very proud of the work I’ve done since returning to Ripley, TN.  Especially, the work I did in these videos.  The first is the promo, in which Flash interrupted.  Then, the second video is the actual match.  The match that I pegged as being a Match of the Year candidate before it ever even happened.  I’m not only proud of this match – but I hope that many of the guys in the area actually watch it.  They may learn something.

Take a look.

A Preview of Tonight

For those of you who can not make it to Ripley, TN tonight for Elite Wrestling Entertainment’s weekly show – here’s a little preview of a video that I will be showing to the audience.  Once again, CineMaxx did a great job of putting this together for me.  I’ll introduce this as highlights from last week.

If I was able to do all THIS to Stan, last week… what’s in store for this week (tonight)?

EWE – Ripley, TN

Check this out:

We’re doing some very good things in Ripley, TN.  Good booking.  Good stories.  Good matches.  And a very good build-up to the biggest show of the year.  Not only is the show well-run, but it’s also a very tight-knit locker room.  No fighting.  No back-stabbing.  No wondering whether your money will be there at the end of the night or not.  It’s just a very good place to work, at this point in time.

In the past, I have been very critical about some of the things they’ve done.  At this point in time, though, they’re on a very good path.  The March to Mayhem, as they like to call it, is underway.  Mayhem is May 30th.  Currently, I’ll be headlining the show with Stan Lee in an EWE Heavyweight Championship match.  Stan’s the Champ and I’m the number one contender after obtaining the Elite 8 Ticket.

Along with the March to Mayhem, I had the opportunity to do some very fun stuff, this weekend.  Well, besides the fact of having to wait around in a small, cramped-up bathroom for over an hour and a half, waiting on the show to begin.  As I waited for Stan to do his interview at the beginning of the show, I had a promo play on the big screen, prompting everyone to think I was not there.

Cinemaxx did a great job on this, by the way.  It was fun to do.  It really helped the storyline.  AND look at what happened in the aftermath:

ATTACK PART I

ATTACK PART II

One of the best things about this company is the fact that their videos are posted every week for everyone to see.  Go to EWE’s site to see them for yourself.  The building was jam-packed this week, with what I think was 200 or more people.  That’s a good thing, leading into a big show like Mayhem.  Also, with the big riff in Dyersburg, last week… I wouldn’t be surprised to see a very familiar face make his return to Ripley, very soon.  I’m thinking things might turn in a FLASH.

Hint not so suttle, huh?  :)

4/25/09 – EWE – Ripley, TN

With a fair and a prom taking place on the same weekend as professional wrestling, Elite Wrestling Entertainment was hurt a bit.  Well, let’s be honest with one another – wrestling was hurt a lot.  The show must go on, right?  Well, this one almost didn’t.  But the loyal fans of Ripley, TN gave us all something to work for.  A smaller crowd than normal but, nevertheless, a hot crowd.

Here’s Dustin Starr versus Ike Tucker from this weekend.  Post your comments here and let me know what you think.  It’s certainly not a Match of the Year candidate.  But it was a safe battle – with no injuries taking place – that made the March to Mayhem seem a little more clear.

Elite Wrestling Entertainment

tlcw-1-17-1I’m not a big fan of changing the name of a company.  Whether it’s a wrestling company or not… it’s typically not a good idea.  Especially, if there’s not a good reason for it.  But TLCW is doing just that.  They’re changing the name of the wrestling company to Elite Wrestling Entertainment.  This may be the worst decision in a long time.

Please allow me to explain.

When we see a retail shop change it’s name from one thing to another, what do we always think?  We think that the one company went out of business, right?  I always do.  My first impressions is a negative one.  That company went out of business and re-opened under a different name to try and be successful at being something else.  So, I’m afraid that most fans will look at TLCW as a failure… and this is the one last effort to try and save the town – change the name.

The crowd is down as it is.  But now, you’re telling them that TLCW is dead and Elite Wrestling Entertainment is alive.  Those same people that think TLCW is dead, they’ll think that EWE is going to be much of the same and soon be dead as well.  I can’t blame them.  The show is getting worse week after week and I don’t know if they can turn it around or not.

I’m just being honest. (more…)
