Are you ready???

supersummershowdownIt’s almost here!  Tomorrow night at 7PM, one of the biggest local wrestling events of the year will be taking place!  Take a look at the poster… the best of the best are scheduled for this show!  Oh, and Seth Knight will be there too!  But in all honesty, I can’t wait to see the turn-out!  I’m expecting all my followers and all of my backers to be there to support me and to support the show!  Did I mention it is a FREE SHOW!?

There’s a few very interesting tidbits surrounding this show.  This will be the second supercard in a row where Stan Lee and I headline the event.  At Mayhem, a few months back, I lost to Stan Lee in an EWE Heavyweight Championship match-up.  This time around, I will be defending the EWE Heavyweight title against Stan.  After Mayhem, big things started poppin’ for yours truly.  Will it repeat, this time around?  You’ll just have to wait and see…

Derrick King will step in the ring with Bishop.  Bishop is a guy that I’ve been praising quite a bit lately.  The guy has really gotten better.  He moves better in the ring.  He’s more fluid in what he does.  Every movement seems to mean something.  I think the guy’s actually learning how to WORK.  That’s very important… and I’m expecting big things for this match.  Seeing how Derrick is the BEST in the area… Bishop needs to prove that he belongs.  Here’s your shot, big man.

It’s always great to see Jon Michael, Christian Jacobs, The Golden Boy… and of course, Mr. Big Stuff on the card, all at the same time!  Throw Genocide in there and you’ve got all my favorite independent workers on the same show at the same time.  Imagine that?  Dustin Starr actually liking a line-up… very weird!  It really says a lot about the crew that will be performing on this show.

I said it before and I’ll say it again – DON’T MISS THIS SHOW!

Oh, and Derrick King… if you’re reading this – I’m sorry to tell you that you’re NOT headlining.  The main event has been saved for the NEW RRO WRESTLER OF THE YEAR.  That’s right.  Main Event belongs to the EWE Heavyweight Champion and former two-time RRO Horizon Starr of the Year.

The Main Event belongs to DUSTIN “FIVE” STARR.  Thank you very much.

UPDATE: Super Summer Showdown

EWENewBannerAs another year winds its way down, another Super Summer Showdown is upon us.  Saturday night in Ripley, TN Elite Wrestling Entertainment puts on one of their biggest shows of the year – SUPER SUMMER SHOWDOWN!  If you plan to attend only one independent wrestling show all year long, this should be the one!

I’ve discussed this with friends and family… I’ve been waiting on the night for a long, long time.  Stan Lee and I will step inside the squared circle one more time to settle all of our differences once and for all.  I’ve held the upper-hand on Stan for quite some time and now it’s all coming to a head.  I’ve told everyone many, many times… and I’ve told Stan Lee himself – he’s the best athlete I’ve ever been in the ring with.

This weekend, I promise a Five Starr Classic.

News coming from EliteWrestlingEntertainment.com concerning the location and time for Super Summer Showdown is posted below.  Check it out because I’ve given some of you some false information.  (more…)

Unfortunate WWE Story

Dustin Starr I’ve been thinking back to the last time I worked with World Wrestling Entertainment.  How excited I was and how great it felt to be out on the road.  Heading to Birmingham, I couldn’t help but think about how my life would be if I had a full-time gig with the company.  It would be a great experience and I feel that I would have the time of my life.

Everything about the experience was awesome.  Driving.  Thinking.  Wondering.  Finding a hotel.  Signing autographs at the hotel (how’d that happen?)  Running the next morning.  Eating Waffle House.  Arriving at the arena.  Leaving the arena.  Everything was spectacular and made me want that type of lifestyle even more than I already did.

The funny / unfortunate part of the trip came as I was doing cardio.  Those of you who wrestle or are active in some sort of sport, you’ll really be able to connect with me here.  (more…)

Breaking the Mold

Dustin StarrI’ve gotten a lot of verbal reaction regarding the statements I posted last week regarding the stereotypical independent wrestler.  Not so much flack about the egotistical approach of my breaking that stereotype.  But the fact that some guys may think that I’m taking cheap shots at them by calling “everyone else” stereotypical.  This is not necessarily the case.

With that said, I do honestly think that I break the mold of that typical, every day indy wrestler.  However, I’m not in a league of my own by any means.  So, please do not confuse what I’m saying when I tell you that I’m different from the rest.  I like to think that I not only set the bar of performance when I’m in the ring – but I exceed that expected level and earn the fans’ love and respect for doing it that way.

Let’s face it, folks.  The truth is the truth.  The truth is I’m in the ring with the best indy wrestlers in the Mid-South each and every week.  This is pure fact.  Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of clutter in this business.  Many guys that do not know how to apply a top wrist lock.  But there are certainly a few that are very capable of wrestling anywhere in the world.  Even on the grandest stage of them all.  Allow me to explain: (more…)

Time for Me to Evaluate

Elite 12Well, there was quite a bit of interest in the evaluation topic. Quite a few comments. Some of you requested more names. And we will get to that. But first, it’s my turn to evaluate.

I have quite a few fans who just can’t wait for a topic to come up like this. They love seeing what it is that I will say. Many feathers get ruffled in these situations. This time should be no different. Afterall, I am my own worst enemy. Or so I hear, anyway.

So, let’s cut to the chase. I know all five guys very well. In fact, a few of them are like brothers to me. My eddishes, if you will. Another is considered to many to be my father (most claim that I am his son and he’d hate to hear it!!) if you can’t shoot straight with your boys, who can you shoot straight with?

Let’s get started: (more…)

Time for an Evaluation

Dustin StarrLet’s evaluate some talent.  I want to conduct an experiment, here.  It seems that so many of us watch the same matches and same wrestlers – but seem to see something different.  How is that possible.  If we both watch the same match, how can one of us think it’s good and the other think it’s bad?

A matter of taste?  Sure.  A matter of knowing what to look for?  Maybe.  But who are we to judge one another on our individual likes and dislikes?  Can I call someone dumb for liking a particular song that I don’t enjoy.  Sure, I can.  Is it fair?  Probably not.

So, I want to ask a few questions and conduct a little experiment here.  I call it an experiment, you call it a survey.  But I need honesty.  I want to see the true feelings here.  I know I can’t ask you who the best in the area is.  What will happen if I do that?  Simple – a select few insecure “wrestlers” will post themselves and win an unworthy award.  (No awards will be given out here!)  So, what if I ask opinions?  One word opinions.  So, select your word wisely. Starr & Reed vs Lee & Moore – NBW Tag Title Match

This match was from last night in Newbern, TN.  Jeremy Moore and Stan Lee defended the NBW Tag Team Championships against Jason Reed and myself.  It wasn’t my favorite match of all time.  Far from it.  But the crowd was hot, we all worked hard and no one got hurt.

I thoroughly enjoy being in the ring with Stan Lee.  He’s the most gifted athlete I’ve stepped in the ring with.  Jeremy Moore, on the other hand… had to be taught a small lesson.  I’ll discuss more about that at a later date.  I enjoyed beating him like he owed me money, though.  I will say that.

Found the match on YouTube.  So, thanks to whomever put it together.

Five Starr Update

elite 8 ticketWell, MAYHEM has once again come and gone.  Last year at MAYHEM, I made my long-awaited return to the ring to tag up with Stan Lee and Derrick King to face off with The Black Label Society and T@2!  That match was nominated for Match of the Year by Rasslin Riot Online.  This year, I cashed in my Elite 8 ticket to get a shot at Stan Lee and his EWE Heavyweight Championship.  And just like I predicted a few days back, this match lived up to my prediction of once again being nominated for MOTY.  If you missed it, I can’t wait til you can watch it.

The match featured all sorts of specialties.  450 splah attempt by Stan (you know I don’t leave my feet!)  A Starr Struck off the top rope.  Two refs went down in the mix.  And finally, the finish came with a Liger Bomb by Stan Lee, retaining his Championship in front of a packed house in Ripley, TN.  I couldn’t have been happier with the match… unless I won, obviously.

Post-match I couldn’t wait to lie down in the locker room.  I don’t know what it was, but I was in some pain.  I layed down on my towel in the locker room floor and just had to stretch out.  I tweaked my knee (nothing unusual), I was aching in my back but I was beaming with pride.  I have thoroughly enjoyed every single second that I have spent working with EWE.  I have zero complaints and zero regrets.  Oh yeah, and I’ll be back in two weeks. I have had more fun wrestling within the last month than I have had in a LONG time.  Most of the credit goes to working with guys that I like… working with guys that appreciate what I do and how I do it… and being able to be in a high-profile position on a high-profile card.  That’s where I deserve to be.

So, along with the fun that I’m having stories for the ages – I’d like to extend the fun to those of you who read the blog!  Check this out – I’m challenging you all and your creative skills!
