You have concerns? I DON’T! – PART II

For those of you who were concerned before, take a look at the photos.  I’m trying, as I type this, to get my files converted to post actual video on the site.  Or better yet… maybe I should just make you all wait to see it in person.

Regardless, the images speak for themselves.  “Dustin Starr can’t work the cruiserweight style”… “Dustin Starr can’t do the necessary things to impress”… Whoever has been making statements like that – you better take them back!  (more…)

I had a BLAST!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — dustinstarr @ 10:30 pm

Elizabeth & Dustin StarrSaturday night is what the wrestling business is all about.  I had an absolute BLAST in Ripley, TN.  I will be the first to tell you that it is very hard to have fun in this business, most of the time.  But Saturday night was one that I will have fond memories of forever.

Not only did I get to wrestle my two favorite wrestlers (Derrick King & Stan Lee), but I was able to meet some of my fans and spend time with some people that are very important to me.  As you see in the pictures, I was goofing off a bit and just loving to spend time away from some of the pressures that go along with trying to get an inch-up on the competition.  More photos will be posted, as soon as I get them.

In this picture, you’ll see that I’m with Elizabeth.  She’s a big fan, from what her father says.  Her father is a photographer and snaps many, many pictures for me every week.  It is very much appreciated.  I am very grateful… he’s capturing memories that I will cherish forever.

Also, you’ll see in another picture on my Twitter page (http://twitter.com/dustinstarr) – T@2 and myself.  T@2 loved the match and once he saw the camera flashing, he just HAD to jump in there.  You’re looking at two guys that are working towards something much bigger and better.  He’s my boy and I’ll catch him wherever he jumps… as long as he remembers the spot!  (cheap shot!)

Finally… check out the GRILL!  (http://twitter.com/dustinstarr)  I’ll let you post your own comments about that one!  But I had fun and I hope to have even more fun when I return in a few weeks.

Busy Season

Five StarrThe busy season is fastly approaching me.  Opportunities are knocking and I’m answering as fast as I possibly can.  As if I’m not swamped enough as it is… You haven’t seen anything just yet.

I’ve teased several big happenings in the past.  Some have come through.  Some have fallen through.  Currently, I’m in the midst of a period in my life that could make or break me.  This period in my life could threaten to be the biggest of all.  It will certainly affect me in both business and personal aspects of my life.

I’ve been told by the closest of friends that I’m wearing myself thin.  With the lifting, running, training, working and accepting as many bookings and opportunities as I possibly can – I see their point.  Throw in the fact that I’m doing all of said on little or no sleep… It could pose for a recipe for destruction.

For those of you who genuinely care, let me put your concerns to rest.  Business and personal.  There’s nothing I’d rather be doing at this point in my life than what I’m doing / going to do right now.  I assure each and everyone of you – especially the ones I love the dearest – I’m all right.  I’m fine.  Tough times call for tough skin and tough work ethic.  I’m up for it.  Are you? Time for Me to Evaluate

Elite 12Well, there was quite a bit of interest in the evaluation topic. Quite a few comments. Some of you requested more names. And we will get to that. But first, it’s my turn to evaluate.

I have quite a few fans who just can’t wait for a topic to come up like this. They love seeing what it is that I will say. Many feathers get ruffled in these situations. This time should be no different. Afterall, I am my own worst enemy. Or so I hear, anyway.

So, let’s cut to the chase. I know all five guys very well. In fact, a few of them are like brothers to me. My eddishes, if you will. Another is considered to many to be my father (most claim that I am his son and he’d hate to hear it!!) if you can’t shoot straight with your boys, who can you shoot straight with?

Let’s get started: (more…)

Time for an Evaluation

Dustin StarrLet’s evaluate some talent.  I want to conduct an experiment, here.  It seems that so many of us watch the same matches and same wrestlers – but seem to see something different.  How is that possible.  If we both watch the same match, how can one of us think it’s good and the other think it’s bad?

A matter of taste?  Sure.  A matter of knowing what to look for?  Maybe.  But who are we to judge one another on our individual likes and dislikes?  Can I call someone dumb for liking a particular song that I don’t enjoy.  Sure, I can.  Is it fair?  Probably not.

So, I want to ask a few questions and conduct a little experiment here.  I call it an experiment, you call it a survey.  But I need honesty.  I want to see the true feelings here.  I know I can’t ask you who the best in the area is.  What will happen if I do that?  Simple – a select few insecure “wrestlers” will post themselves and win an unworthy award.  (No awards will be given out here!)  So, what if I ask opinions?  One word opinions.  So, select your word wisely. The Death of Dyersburg Wrestling – PART III

dcw-casket-matchT@2 versus Dustin Starr did not disappoint.  Despite the fact that I may have been thinking of what was going to take place after the show, we tore the house down and gave the fans what they wanted to see.  Oz was our referee.  Addison was “in no shape to ref”.  Again, The Walkers being as professional as possible.

Let’s talk about being a team player.  Oz stepped in without hesitation and reffed our match.  You may not think this is a big deal, but if you’re a wrestler and you’re asked to ref – it’s like a slap in the face.  Especially, if you’re not a rookie. Thanks to Oz for stepping up.

Match over.  We set up a DCW title rematch for next week.  Rocker and I headlining again.  Back in the locker room, I’m changing clothes and am informed to see Sandra for my pay.  Why is it always an ordeal?  Why can’t you just bring me the money like everyone else?  So, here I come.  Here comes the moment of truth.  I head to the concession stand and the whole family is waiting for me.  When I say whole family – I mean WHOLE family.  Dale, Sandra, Addison, Allen, Tim Edwards, his wife Angela.  I believe Allen’s daughters were even there.

Allen Walker’s first words were, “Dustin, we want you to be part of a four-man booking committee.”  I reply with a look of disgust and disbelief.  “What?  Derrick’s your booker.”  I was told that it wasn’t working out with Derrick and they needed something different.  My next question hit a nerve.  I asked why I would help them screw another one of my friends.  They had screwed Flash just minutes before.  Now, they want me to help them screw Derrick?  A guy who’s helped me more inside and outside of the ring!  I’m going to screw over the only reason I’m working in that town to begin with?   These people are NUTS!
