“What if?”

There has been so much going on the last few days that it’s hard to keep up with. However, with that said, one thing remains consistent.

My training & preparation for my biggest competition to date.

I might hate that I ever wrote this blog but I wanted to share a quick experience with you all.

As you know, I participated in a charity poker event that was held by Hollywood Casino. As part of their “All In for Responsible Gaming” week, local community leaders & celebrities gathered to play poker to win money for the charity of their choice.

The details of that event will be chronicled later this week.

When the game was completed, I had earned a 3rd place trophy. That really made me think. It made me think about the Tennessee State Physique Championship that is right around the corner. We are merely one week & three days away… and I just now thought, “what if?”

I typically do not think too much about the competition or how I will place. I just focus on my training. If I continue to work as hard as I possibly can, everything will fall into place. Once we are all gathered for the contest, that’s when the work speaks for itself.

But Tuesday morning, for the first time ever, I wondered how I’d feel leaving with a 3rd place trophy in the Mr. Tennessee competition. And folks, let me be honest…

I would be disappointed.

Talk about motivation. As if I even needed any more motivation, that did the trick. It hit me like a cold slap in the face. 3rd place in the entire state of Tennessee isn’t bad, is it??

Regardless of placement, I will be celebrating with friends & family, after the show. No doubt. Who would have ever thought I’d be competing in a contest of this magnitude anyway? Not me! So, this experience will be a successful one – win, lose or draw.

Let me be clear – I want to win. I strive to win. I have given 110% to do just that.

Dustin, a few years ago, this type of stuff would have never probably entered your consciousness. The fact that you are in the best shape of your life is an inspiration to many. You’re showing people that there are always possibilities.

I appreciate the kind words, Jim. I never thought i would be competing. So, all of this is brand new & I’m looking forward to the challenge.
