20120802-174156.jpgSports entertainment has been very good to me. It has been a part of my life for many, many years. I plan for it to be a big part of my life for many more to come. Whether it’s professional wrestling, live sporting events, fitness competitions or whatever other forms of entertainment I have been fortunate enough to be a part of – it has given me opportunities to be a part of some very special events.

Hollywood Casino’s “All In for Responsible Gaming” week was certainly one of those events that I’m proud to have taken part in.

From start to finish, Maria & I were treated as professionally as possible by everyone involved. From the dealer, to the cast of players, to the event staff & food & beverage folks – this event was fun, friendly & one hundred percent top-notch. I can not say enough about the professionalism.

The lights, cameras, even an audience on-hand to watch the game; we were very much pleased to take part in a game that we had very little experience playing. We weren’t the only ones, however.

I played in a celebrity & local community leader’s charity poker event with judges, senators, newscasters, emcees, sheriffs & so many more. All across the board, we came from various fields of work. But we were all there for one reason…

To donate our time to raise awareness & money for charity.

As we headed into the final hand of the game, Memphis Sport Live’s host, Kevin Cerrito, had first place well in hand. He seemed to be a poker shark, hunting down & winning hands for his charity of choice – The Muscular Dystrophy Association.
I, on the other hand, had second place well in hand, as I played for The Ronald McDonald House of Memphis. I was trying to catch up with my friend, Kevin.

A video editor who came along with WMC-TV5’s Janice Broach seemed to have all the luck, although he won only few hands. He was chasing the two of us. Maybe it was strategy. Maybe it was just the luck I spoke about. Nevertheless, he forced our hand on the last game.

We had to go “All In” to try & capture victory. When the smoke cleared & the dust settled, I was bumped from second to third. Cerrito was bumped from first to second. And Janice’s partner-in-crime stole first.

What a game! What a day!

I look forward to working on more events for my community & the charities that need our help & support.

Thank you all for reading & contributing to something I love to do.
